Owyhee County Museum School Tours!

What to Expect

The Owyhee County Museum would love to host your class or school! We provide a multi-station tour where kids will learn about the fascinating history of ranching, farming and mining. Your students will be able to see how a 1915 Model T works, pan for gold, brand their initials into a piece of wood, see how school was taught 124 years ago and so much more. If you are teaching Idaho history or western history this is the place to come to immerse yourself and your students that history.

We love history!

The museum is full of it, history that is! We love being able to educate the next generation of kids and adults. The history of Owyhee County is vast from Native Americans to the ranchers and miners that shaped the way the county is today and the state of Idaho. Thanks, impart to the discovery of gold and silver in Silver City area Owyhee County was the first county to be created by the Idaho Territorial Legislature, now 160 years ago. So, you can say we know history.

Tours are available all year long and activities can vary depending on the time of year you come for a visit.

Can’t make it to the museum and still want history shared? Our Director is more than happy to make the trip to your school to present on your town’s history or related topics.
