The Julia J. Hyslop Research Center and Helen Nettleton Library

The Owyhee County Historical Museums goal is to become the finest and most complete repository and research center for the history and prehistory of the Owyhee Country region.

We are actively acquiring materials from notable regional historians and authors to strengthen our information base. Recently, we were honored to receive the photograph and document collections of two prolific regional historians and authors Mildretta Adams and Julia Conway Welch. Both women were excellent researchers and writers with a passion to document local history. Each produced multiple volumes some of the best local and regional histories of the Owyhee Country.

Bolstered by this and other collections of materials OCHS has renewed its commitment to collecting, preserving and disseminating the history of this storied region.

Both the Library and Archives are available for research and study but all visits require appointment so please call or email to make an appointment.
